My Family

rose rose Home is where you hang your heart.

I am very fortunate to have numerous siblings, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and others that I care for very much. Right now I will just mention a few and add more later. I hope those who aren't here yet don't feel left out. If I waited til I got the site finished before putting it online I probably never would. Also I keep getting new relatives; for example, since I started this site my niece, Jerrica married Tim and they have given me two great-nephews - Koby and Parker - and two great-nieces - Khloe and Preslee.

A child fills a place in your heart you never knew was empty.

My oldest daughter Kendi was born when I was nineteen. She somehow managed to turn out great in spite of my inexperienced parenting and all the mistakes I made along the way. She is intelligent, charming, talented, caring and responsible. I would say more but it would sound like I am biased! She lives in Wichita and works at the Post Office sorting facility. Her yard is filled with flowers and herbs so that keeps her busy. She has many other interests - like art, photography, crafts, etc. She does volunteer work at Botanica. She has several cats that she adopted when she moved to the neighborhood and has worked very hard to lessen the feral cat population. Unfortunately she has multiple health problems but is always ready to help others - whether a family member or a friend.

My youngest daughter Jodi was born when I was twenty. I had a little more experience in being a mother but still managed to make plenty of mistakes. However she too turned out great. She graduated from WSU (Magna Cum Laude) in 1989 with degrees in Legal Assistance and Administration of Justice. She then picked a great guy to marry. His name is Kevin and he is a Sergeant with the Wichita Police Department. Jodi worked for a few years as a legal assistant then was a stay-at-home mom and Girl Scout leader for a few years. Since returning to work she has had various jobs for Sedgwick County and is pursuing a master's degree. She enjoys biking and kick-boxing. She volunteers at her church and the Humane Society. She is also a responsible and caring person.

Three people who are very precious to me are my granddaughters: Staci, Kelsey, and Megan. They are the most beautiful, talented and creative children in the world - IMHO ;-). I have several photos of them to show so I made a separate page for them. I also made a separate section for scans of my Grandma's ABC Album.

Chance made us sisters, hearts made us friends.

Because of my parents divorcing and remarrying I eventually acquired eight younger siblings - five brothers and three sisters. The photos above are my sisters, Cindy and Pam, and my sister Marcie and I with our dad. The photos below are my brothers Doug and Wayne, and my brothers Brian, Bob and Rod with our dad.
Unfortunately Pam, Rod, and Brian have passed away.

Sadly one of the most special people in my life, my wonderful grandmother, died in 1979. But I carry the memory of her in my heart so I always feel she is nearby. I am making a memorial page in honor of my grandmother and some other special people who are gone - but not forgotten.

Here are some of my favorite quotes about home and family.
You will find more in the family section of my Poem and Quote website.

~Family ties are precious threads, no matter where we roam,
They draw us close to those we love, and pull our hearts toward home.

~A family is a cheering section when a victory is won ...
a place for beginning again when a cause is lost.

~A family is a haven of rest, a sanctuary of peace and, most of all, a harbor of love.
(Manny Feldman)

~No matter what, no matter where; it's always home when love is there.

~Babies are such a nice way to start people. (Don Herold)

~We are always surprised to see girl babies behaving like girls from the very beginning,
and boy babies behaving like boys; we seem to imagine that we had to learn it!

~There are children born to be children,
and others who must mark time till they can take their natural places as adults

Before you were conceived I wanted you
Before you were born I loved you
Before you were here an hour I would die for you
This is the miracle of love.
