The Delaware State Flag
The background of colonial blue surrounds a buff-colored diamond that holds the state coat of arms. Buff and blue represent Revolutionary War uniforms. The diamond indicates the state is small but has great value. Below the diamond is the date, on which DE ratified the constitution and became the first state. The coat of arms has symbols that represent commerce and agriculture. The words "Liberty and Independence" are in a ribbon banner.
