Page ideas
- Make a border with left over ABC sticker letters (lots of U's and J's in there). Use half a sheet of gold paper (5 1/2 x 11) and randomly stick different colored letters on it. Cut into 4 equal strips. This makes a cute border for school pictures!
- Use white ABC stickers on a black page to make it look like a chalkboard.
- Cut a large outline of a bus out of gold or yellow paper that is a little larger than the class picture. If it doesn't remove anything important try cropping the photo into a bus shape.
- Use scallop scissors to cut a 'bite' out of an apple die-cut. Use with a photo of a teacher and child.
School Days Croptalk™ Pocket Page Idea
(Jean Gifford)
I gave a school design line, strip of blue paper, green triangle, gold triangle, small bus die cut and small apple die cut. Those are the basics for the "Special Memories" layout on the back page (They can use the little stickers from the design line in place of the CM stickers).
Then, I made that layout into a pocket page, by doing the following:
- Drop the blue strip down to have its top just even with the top staple on the page.
- Raise the school bus so that all of its windows are above the blue strip (I had it "driving" just along the top of the design line segment)
- Cut across page along the top of the blue strip and over the top of the bus.
- Adhere cut page on three sides to a whole page using photo tape.
End of the School Year Pages
(condensed from a handout by Sheri B. CMC)
Take a page (or piece of acid free paper) to school the last
week to get signatures of teachers and friends.
Do the pages while the memories are fresh or make notes to use when you do the pages later.
Take a photo of the last day of school to compare to the
first day of school photo.
Have the child write about or tell you about their
favorite events from the year and the most interesting thing they learned.
Journal about their favorite subject, best friend,
favorite field trips, funniest event, something they didn't like, etc.
Do something special each year to celebrate the start of
summer - such as getting an ice cream cone after dinner.
School Album Ideas
- A school album can contain all the school photos and memorabilia in a separate album or you can include one page of
school stuff each year in the child's regular album and put the rest of the stuff in a school album.
- Some people let the child help with the school album - and even do the whole thing when they are older if they are interested. This
is a great project for kids who are home-schooled.
- You can take one each of the blue, green and mahogany album and mix up the binding covers to get an album that goes with the school pages. If you don't need 3 albums you could do it with two colors such as your school colors. (Michelle U.)
- School/Family Album - Make double page spreads for everyone in your family (parents, children, grandchildren) Put a kindergarten or first grade photo on the left page and a graduation photo on the right page. Write in names, dates, schools, etc.
