Page Ideas for High School Seniors

• Get a box and label it "senior year". You and your child can decide what items below you want to save. Toss everything in the box until you are ready to begin!
• give teachers a disposable camera with a return address label on it to record unique schooling moments of your child and classmates (school trips, decorating gym for parties, etc). Include either a prepaid processing mailer or an envelope with the postage affixed along with your name and address
• give your child a disposable camera to take pictures at school and around town. Place your return address label on it with a message that this has sentimental value and if found to return it to you for a reward of $10 plus postage
• Prepare (or clip from the newspaper) a "what's in" and "what's out" page
• ask the child to pick their favorite tunes, TV or radio shows, books, aspirations for their life and write that on a ruled album page
• ask a favorite teacher to use a ruled page to write a letter to your child describing some of their endearing attributes
• if you can't be at special events, contact one of the chaperones and provide them with a disposable camera with your return address on it. Arrange to pick the camera up after the event
• have your child create a list of everything that they would like to do during their lifetime based on their current interests
• save all stubs and brochures from class trips and place in album along with the appropriate photos
• ask the child's best friends to write a letter recalling some of their favorite memories within their friendship. Use this in the album next to a picture of the two of them together
• save corsages and press in a heavy book; also save the accompanying invitations
• volunteer to be a chaperone and you will have the opportunity to take lots of pictures (class trips, parties)
• use a pocket or portrait page to display report cards and notes from the teacher
• clip news articles that pertain to the school and color copy them on 100% cotton paper
• clip news articles from the newspaper that depict major current events for each school year that the child can look back on in a few years
• to preserve art projects that are too bulky for the album, have the child hold or stand next to the project and take a picture
• save school programs and have your child get autographs on the program
• host a party at your home and use the album as an autograph book
• place photos of kindergarten next to senior photos - possible captions: "you've come a long way baby!" "turn around once and he/she is all grown up!"
• use a portrait page to hold the diploma
• purchase coins minted during that year and place them in the album using the large clear corners
• once a year, write a letter to your child detailing some of the special activities that you have shared. Place them in a sealed portrait page to be opened in ten years.
• during their senior year, have the child write out where and what they will be in ten years. Place that in the sealed pocket also.

High School Album

I am working on assembling an album from my high school years. These are some of the page I am using. They may or may night apply to you:
1.) Spring Break Layout - I went to the Bahamas so I have a lot of pictures from that.
2.) "Circle of Friends" - I am putting the graduation pictures of my five closest friends from H.S. and telling a bit about them.
3.) "The Rest of the Gang" - A few pages of a bunch of other graduation pics of other friends with their names.
4.) A two page spread of all of my own senior pictures.
5.) Pages for graduation party pictures. Have a few pages decorated so the graduate can have his/her friends sign at the party.
6.) A layout for any activities in they may have. i.e. I played softball and was in pep club.
7.) A page layout to mount the years report cards.
8.) A page layout to display college acceptance letters.
9.) A page layout displaying memorabilia for the college I choose to go to.

Go to my site and look at the "school Days" sentiments. Now, translate all the red/gold/blue mini short cuts into two or three colors that represent your school.
I will have 15 or so 2-page spreads to choose from to customize the album.

College Student page idea

Use two small maps, one of your town and another of his college town? Put them on opposite ends of a 2-page spread and connect them with a long phone cord and lots of hearts. You could also use a picture of a computer/modem or stamped envelopes.

College Album

This is not an album about college, it is an album for a student to take with them to college. It includes photos of family, friends, pets, favorite hometown places, etc. (a good use for duplicate photos). This is something for the student to look at when they get homesick. It also keeps their other albums safe at home until they establish a permanent residence.

Laws of Class Scheduling:

• If the course you wanted most has room for "n" students, you will be the "n + 1" to apply.
• Class schedules are designed so every student will waste the maximum time between classes.
• When you are occasionally able to schedule two classes in a row, they will be held in classrooms at opposite ends of the campus.
• A perquisite for a desired course will be offered only during the semester following the desired course.
• The one course you must take to graduate will not be offered during your last semester.

KU versus K-State

A graduate from the University of Kansas, a graduate from Kansas State and a pig were in the hospital waiting room, each awaiting the birth of his firstborn.
Suddenly, the lights went out. Fortunately, power was restored shortly thereafter and the head nurse made her way to the waiting room.
"I've got good news and bad news, gentlemen and pig," she announced. "Despite the electrical outage, two healthy boys and one healthy piglet have been delivered. However, since the lights went out at the most inopportune time, we aren't sure which firstborn belongs to whom. The only way we know to resolve the problem is to draw straws and have the winner choose first."
The three proud papas agreed, and the K-State grad won the drawing. He was escorted into the delivery room and looked at the three newborns for a painstakingly long time. Finally, with head bowed, he scooped up the piglet and headed for the door.
"Sir, are you quite certain that you've made the right choice?" the nurse asked.
"No, I'm not," replied the Wildcat. "But I just couldn't run the risk of ending up with the KU kid."

After I sent this out to my high school graduating class list, some of whom attended each of the above schools, I got this reply:
"...I can see how a K-State Grad would make that decision. KU people know about DNA testing."
